Bolivar, Mo. — Paige Hemphill, a four-year player in goal for the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats, has signed a professional contract to play for Vasteras BK30 of the Sweedish women’s league.
“I look forward to continuing my soccer career with Vasteras BK30,” said Paige Hemphill. “I can’t wait to improve my game and play at an even higher level. We’ve had a fantastic year, winning an MIAA championship, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds in Sweden. I’d like to thank my coach, Robert Podeyn, for his preparation and development of my game. He has truly made me a better keeper and a better person. I would also like to thank my teammates for making my soccer experience at SBU awesome. I will miss them a lot.”
Vasteras BK30 is located in the town of Vasteras, Sweden, approximately 30 minutes outside of Stockholm. They are a 1st division team in the Sweedish women’s league and are challenging to advance to the highest women’s division where they can also compete in the UEFA women’s champions league. The season runs from middle of April to the end of October.
“Paige has been an integral part of our program for the last four years,” head coach Robert Podeyn stated. “She has been invaluable in helping us to rebuild from one of the weaker teams in the MIAA to one of the strongest teams in the MIAA. Her leadership and work ethic the last four years will be greatly missed. I have enjoyed working with Paige. She has been one of the best goal keepers I have ever had the pleasure of working with.”
