The Tigers wasted little time Tuesday in dismantling Greenwood HS in an away game at Cooper 1. Following a quick start by Greenwood, which put them up 1-0 in the 3rd min, the Tigers turned on the effort gaining 5 unanswered shots on goal. The game was equalized in the 15th min off a header from Sophomore Carter Burgess. Junior Mason Shelor put the Tigers in the lead at the 17th min and things continued to fall their way following. Senior Hunter Wallace took it to 3-1 after sending a floating ball through the Greenwood backfield. Junior Bailey Williams challenged for the ball, causing a collision between the Greenwood GK and defender, while the deflected through ball rolled in. The opportunities continued for the Tigers with Shelor adding another at the 36 minute. Less than a minute later, Williams would send a dangerous ball into the box. Sophomore Keaton Amstutz streaked by the Greenwood defender to glace a clinical header just above the keepers reach making it 5-0. Wallace would make it 6-1 just before the half. The Tigers managed to keep things under control during the second half while several upcoming stars were able to get some valuable varsity minutes before ending the match at 6-3. The Tigers face Cassville HS this Thursday at Tiger Stadium. JV will only play 1 half, Varsity will start at approximately 6pm.
The Tigers returned to the Rolla Invitational this past weekend to face Class 2 Powerhouse, Southern Boone County. The Tigers played very well against a very strong team, managing 8 shots on goal and 3 corner kicks to SoBoCo’s 12 shots on goal. The match ended 5-0, although the efforts on the pitch reflected a much closer game.
Saturday, the Tigers dropped a saddening one to host Rolla, 3-2 after controlling 80 minutes of the game. The Tigers outshot the Bulldogs 16 to 6, but failed to get a handled defensively on the long throwings, which netted Rolla both second half goals. The afternoon match against Battle HS, the Tigers stepped things up, taking the match 3-1. A last minute attack by Battle took away the shut out, and the Tigers deserving second place finish!!

The Tigers traveled to St Louis metro area to take on a talented Troy HS team and Ritnour HS, losing 2-0 in a match that got away from them at Troy, while managing a 2-2 draw against Ritnour in the afternoon. The Tigers return to STL in October to finish out the tournament against McCluer HS and State contender Francis Howell North.

Ozark managed to pull away with a 3-2 victory against the Branson Pirates. Following last years disappointing loss in Branson, the Tigers wasted little time getting on the board, as Junior Mason Shelor got the first point at the 16 minute mark. The tigers never looked back. Out shooting the Pirates with 10 on goal attempts, Sophomore Keaton Amstutz got his third of the season at the 36 min. Branson was able to get a point back early in the second half, while Amstutz continued his dominance of the midfield, getting his second of the match at the 53rd minute. The match ended with several missed opportunities by the Tigers to end 3-2. The Tigers managed 21 on goal attempts to Bransons 11 shots.

The Tigers were dealt their first tough loss of the season in a close matchup with Springfield power, Glendale HS. The match started well for the tigers, with playing going both ways. Glendale managed to control the possession early in the match until the Tigers settled in, out performing the Falcons with 2 on goal attempts in the first 5 minutes of the game. In the 5th minute, Junior Perry Spinabella knock home beautiful volley off an Eli Gonzalez corner kick to take the lead. The tigers would hold the lead at 1-0 through the half with defensive efforts that minimized the Falcons offensive production. Glendale came out strong in the second, making it difficult for the tigers to retain possession. In the 52nd min, the Falcons would tie things up with a strong volley at the top of the box. Four minutes later, Falcon forward Bobby Spence headed in the go ahead goal from a corner. The Tigers continued to press the Falcon defense the final 15 minutes of the match, but were unable to find the net.

The Varsity soccer boys started the season strong, with a decisive victory over Hillcrest HS. The Tigers wasted little time in taking control of the game, scoring the first point of the match after a goal by Senior captain, Hunter Wallace 17 seconds in the match. The scoring success continued with a 2nd goal at the 1:35 mark by Junior Mason Shelor. Ending the half 9-0, with additional goals by Keaton Amstutz, Alex Bauer, Eli Gonzalez, and James Pottberg, the tigers continued getting the first game gitters out by possessing the ball until the 56th minute, when newcomer Sophomore, Carter Burgess ended the match at 10-0, with his first point of the match.
